The long Covid queue for Milan airports is definitely behind us. In 2023 Sea, the company that manages Linate and Malpensa, recorded a turnover of more than 762 million euros (28 more than in 2022) with a net profit of 156 million. All this also thanks to airport traffic which has returned to pre-pandemic levels.

According to the data collected, traffic in Linate and Malpensa reaches 35.3 million passengers, an increase of 22% compared to 2022 and equal to the traffic of 2019. The 2023 financial year – we read in the press release – was characterized by a return of passenger traffic in Milan airports to 2019 levels (35.3 million both years), the last financial year not penalized by the effects of the pandemic and by a consolidated Ebitda of 335.3 million euros . This result includes 41.4 million euros of non-recurring items, net of these values ​​it is equal to 293.9 million euros and is the highest ever achieved in the history of Sea and is higher by 23 million to that recorded in 2019.

The best performances are the result of actions undertaken by the company with particular reference to the development of non-aeronautical revenues and the efficiency of the cost base – emphasizes Mer. The number of passengers in 2023 (35.3 million) has increased by 22% compared to fiscal year 2022. Milan Malpensa and Milan Linate airports welcomed 25.9 million passengers and 9.4 million passengers respectively (both up 22%). Goods transported amounted to 667 thousand tonnes, down 7% compared to 2022 (+21% compared to 2019). Milan Malpensa alone handled 65% of goods nationally. 11.6% by value of all national exports destined outside the EU passed through Cargo City in Malpensa.
