Dear Lord Jesus, today I place my life under your cross. As a disciple, I welcome all the light, grace and life that you continually pour upon us from her. I don’t want anything that flows from your pierced side to go to waste. I wish to unite all my will to yours, to have your same spirit, the same feelings of your open heart to give everything.
I am at your feet next to Saint Mary, your mother, to whom you give me so that she may also be mine.
I accept your sovereignty on the cross with humility and gratitude, even if it is difficult for me to understand so many things. You know more than my little understanding. I devote my desires, my reasonings and my affections to you. Pains and consolations. That is to say, I give my wounded heart to your heart which allowed itself to be wounded by me.
I place the lives of those you have given me under your cross. Those who loved me first and I was able to return their love. Those who love me today and I also want to return the favor. The ones you give me as a reflection of your love. Because everything is your grace and your gift. Everything and everyone offers me something of you. Also the adversity, the precariousness and the losses of this life. Through them you make me return to you as my saving rock, the rock where I take refuge. That’s why I also want to forgive those who hurt me. I ask your forgiveness for them, as you asked for everyone from the cross. I also ask you to forgive me for the harm I have caused to others, to so many people you know well. May your love cover all these faults!
I place under your cross those who can decide about me and my loved ones. My superiors and everyone above me. Who can decide about our health, our property and our own plans. I ask you for wisdom, discernment and peace for them. Be the one to guide us through them and give us the confidence to accept everything they have.
Thus I complete in my flesh what is lacking in your Passion in me, in us. What is missing from your cross, from mine, from those who loved me in the past, from those today and from those of the moment when you will complete your work in us. Your love project in us! Don’t let him lose sight of you, Lord. Let not my heart turn to falsehood, my God, my sun and my mountain, be my truth.
Oh, Jesus, may I not forget you today. May I not stray from the fire of charity and forgiveness which calls us from your cross. Get me excited. Call me without me neglecting you. Speak my name clearly, without the dissonance of my sins and carelessness. I give up my freedom to you. This is what fills me, gives me peace and the strength to go out today to find you. I follow you on your path of total abandonment.
