The attack suffered by Iran early this Friday, about which there were still many unknowns in the early morning, put the country on alert and raised fears throughout the region of a possible escalation after the succession of attacks between this country and Israel.

Iranian state television reported this Friday the noise of “strong explosions” in central Isfahan provinceaccording to the Efe agency, which attributed the shooting down of drones by the country’s air defenses, against a backdrop of tensions over possible reprisals by Israel against Iran.

The United States confirmed that the attack was carried out by Israel, in retaliation for the Iranian attack last Saturday.

“The loud noises that were heard in several areas of Iran are due to the “shoot down unknown micro-air vehicles by defense systems”state television said.

For its part, the state agency IRNA reported that Air defenses have been activated in “several provinces” after “strong explosions” were heard in the center of the country, according to Efe.

Iran’s space agency spokesman Hossein Dalirian posted a message on the social network Israel.

In his message, he mocked Israel’s alleged failure to respond to last Saturday’s attack: “They said we fired 500 drones and suicide missiles… now they are responding with three of these quadcopters, which were all neutralized,” he wrote. “They are simply saying that they did not inform the United States earlier,” he adds with emoticon smiles, in an apparent criticism of recent tensions in relations between Israel and the United States in the context of the ongoing war in Gaza.

The Mehr agency, for its part, shared a video in which we see air defenses firing during the night.

Amid confusion over what is happening, airline authorities have suspended flights in at least three cities across the country, including Tehran and its international airport.

In the United States, a senior official told ABC that Israel launched several missiles against Iran early Friday morning.

This aggression would be in retaliation for the Iranian attack with hundreds of missiles and drones last Saturday against Israel, which was in turn a response to the attack on the Iranian consulate in Damascus, in which seven members of the Revolutionary Guards are dead.

Israel said it would respond to the Iranian attack, to which Tehran raised the tone of its warnings and in turn assured that it would take measures against possible Israeli retaliation.

Iran warned yesterday that it could review its “nuclear doctrine” – which until now dictated exclusively civilian use of this energy – if Israel threatened to attack its atomic centers.
