Tourism in Spain already involves 13.4% of GDP. These are data provided by Exceltur and which show the excellent state of tourism in our country, which increased from 8.1% in 1970 to almost 15%. In the 2000s, this percentage increased to 11%, but this new figure breaks all previous records.

The director of the Plaza Hotel and the Avenida Hotel, Nuria Blanco, assures that these data are motivated by the extension of the high seasonwhich now extends from the start of Easter until October.

Greater economic activity means more jobs, which are also boosted by tourism. Workers linked to the sector will be 13.1% this yearanother record number never seen in our country.

That supposes more than 2.7 million workers in the tourism sector, equivalent to the population of all of Galicia. Good news for Spain as summer approaches ever closer.
