The road N-401 which connects Toledo to Ciudad Real, in particular the route between the Orgaz variant (Toledo) and the intersection with the CM-4167 will be improved with a investment amounting to 110 million euros approved by the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility.

The project is currently subject to environmental impact assessment procedures and will soon be announced in the Official State Gazette (BOE). In total, two new links will be built and six different sections will be fixed, which we detail below:

  • In the Orgaz variant (Toledo) a new conventional road will be built 7.84 km long which will have three connections: west, center and south and an investment of around 29.4 million euros.
  • 5.7 million will be allocated specifically to the Fernán Caballero road section, from kilometer 169,350 to kilometer 175, the sidewalks will be rehabilitated, the road equipment will be adapted and the drainage elements will be cleaned along its 6.37 kilometer length. In addition, the speed change lanes on the links will be longer.
  • The intersection of the N-401 with the CM-4167 highway (km 144) and the start of the Fuente el Fresno bypass (km 152,800) will see their sidewalks rehabilitated, the road equipment will be adapted and the drainage elements will be along it will be cleaned. . on its 8.78 km route. From km 148,700, the existing curves will be rectified and a new interchange, a viaduct and several service roads will be built to redevelop the existing access roads, all with a budget of 11 million euros.
  • 5.4 million euros will be allocated to the Fuente el Fresno variant (km 159,300) and the start of the Malagón variant (km 162,500) will improve its surfaces, road equipment and drainage elements along the 3.27 km. In addition, a new connection and service roads will be built to reorganize access.
  • The Peralvillo Highway (Ciudad Real) will have a newly developed conventional highway with a length of 14.06 km that will start from kilometer 175 of the N-401 bordering Peralvillo to the junction of the N-420 with the A- 43. This project represents an investment of 53 million euros and includes the construction of two links, the North and the N-420.
  • Finally, 5.7 million euros will be allocated to the Malagón bypass (km 162,500 to 169,350) where road surfaces will be improved, road equipment adapted and drainage elements cleaned along its 6.37 km length. . The length of the speed change lanes on the links will also be increased.
