The Israeli army announced this Saturday that Iran had attacked the country with drones. Dozens of drones reportedly flown from Iran to Israel this Saturday evening, as Israel prepares to defend itself against the expected Iranian attack, IDF spokesperson Daniel Hagari confirmed Saturday evening.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a video message that “in recent years, and even more so in recent weeks, “Israel is preparing for the possibility of a direct attack from Iran.”. He warned Tehran that “whoever harms us, we will harm him.” We will protect ourselves from any threat and we will do so with firmness and determination.”
Previously, Israel put its army on high alert, canceled educational activities across the country and limited outdoor gatherings to 1,000 people. In the morning, members of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard boarded and took a ship linked to an Israeli businessman, the MSC Aries, to Iran. There are 25 crew members on board the ship.
Boarding arrives days after Tehran vowed to avenge the killing of 13 more people in an Israeli bombing in Syria. Shortly before, the British navy had alerted of the attack on a ship in the Strait of Hormuz, an important maritime passage between Oman and Iran.
Israel accused Tehran this Saturday of “a pirate operation”. US President Joe Biden interrupted his usual weekend at his beach house in Rehoboth, Delaware, to return to the White House, where he will meet with the national security team to analyze the latest events.
