Fernando Alonso He wants to be in the know. He does not want to retire from Formula 1 now that he is driving at an incredible level and has his sights set on the union between Aston Martin and Honda engines. This will be from 2026 with the new regulations.

And Fernando defended this union. He did so in the run-up to the Chinese Grand Prix: “Honda is winning the championship now, so they are showing they have the discipline and hard work to succeed in Formula 1.”

“There will be new regulations and no one knows what will happen in 2026, we are extremely happy to be able to work with them as a factory team, it’s different from being a customer. It’s a plus and one of the reasons why I stay,” confides the double champion of the Grand Cirque.

And it goes further. Because he believes that he will have a new opportunity in the competition in two years: “The new regulations of 2026 will be a possibilityWe’ll see if the order of the grid changes.”

“We will be with Honda, the only team with this powertrain. I think it will be an improvement and with Aramco, with these new sustainable fuels, I hope they will give us another opportunity. A lot of things are in the works to make it a very powerful team in the future and I want to be part of it,” says Fernando.

But there’s still a season and a half left for that. And at Aston Martin, they focus on the present. And the present is to continue to develop the AMR24 to improve their results on this course and reach the teams fighting for the podiums.
