There Eurozonewhich since its creation in 1999 has adapted the euro as its official currency, launched new parts which enter circulation this year. As with the rest of current currencies, citizens of member countries will be able to carry out any economic transaction with them. The parts, which were designed to commemorate an important event or personality, will increase in value in Germany, Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Slovakia, Slovenia, Estonia, Finland, France, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Portugal as well as in Spain. Among them, Germany, Belgium and Spain will be the main countries in 2024 to commemorate a reason in the design of these coins.

German coins

The German country has launched two currencies. The first pays homage to the federal state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, located in the north of the country. Designed by the artist Michel Ottodepicts a characteristic spot of the Jasmund National Parkin the Island of Rugenmore precisely, the emblematic “Königsstuhl” (meaning “king’s chair”). It shows Germany’s largest steep Cretaceous cliffs and beech forests, as well as a walker in the background strolling along the shores of the Baltic Sea. It also bears the inscription “Mecklenburg-Vorpommern”, the year of circulation “2024” and the letter “D”, which refers to the German Mint where it was minted. The twelve stars, which symbolize the European Union, are arranged in the outer ring.

The second German coin commemorates the 175th anniversary of the Frankfurt Constitutionknown as the Constitution of Saint-Paul Church. This date is important to German citizens because it represents the first attempt to adopt a democratic constitution on a national level in March 1849. Designed by the artist Bodø Broschatthe image represents the Saint-Paul Church, in the presence of representatives of the National Constitutional Assembly, the constitutional document and a feather symbolizing the work of the Frankfurt Parliament, the three feminine allegories (Unity, Justice and Liberty) and the flag German tricolor.

The currency of Belgium

The Belgian country presented a two euro coin to celebrate the Presidency of the Council of the European Union, since he currently occupies the highest position of this community institution until June 30. Coins of Spain

Spain was also able to issue two commemorative coins this year. One of them honors National Police Corps for its bicentennial, since it was created on January 13, 1824 during the reign of Fernando VII. Invented by the National Coin and Stamp Factoryas indicated in the Official State Gazette (BOE) of November 7, 2023, on its front side you can see the emblem of the National Police. According to the Gendarmerie through a press release, “Since March 12, the National Police has become the first Spanish police force to have a two-euro coin as legal tender”.

The second room is dedicated to Seville to house three places declared world heritage by UNESCO in 1987. The monumental ensemble of the Andalusian capital is made up of the Real Alcázar, the Cathedral of Seville and the Archives of the Indies. Through an official statement, the Ministry of Finance indicated that the coin reproduces “a detailed view of the Patio de las Doncellas of the Real Alcázar of Seville.” As the First Vice President and Minister of Finance noted: “With this commemorative coin, the cultural heritage of Seville will be transported to all countries in the Eurozone”.

All the coins presented, already put into circulation, meet the conditions set by European regulations: “keep a common face; they can only be two euros; have a maximum emission volume; and must be used to commemorate an event or personality.”
